When I was in 7th grade I had a huge crush on a girl named Christy, or Chrissie or Carla or Maggie – whatever. The point is, I was in love. But she didn’t love me back. So when I called her, she would make up elaborate excuses to get off the phone with me. My favorite is when she told me her pet bird had escaped and she had to go find him, which is when I realized that she probably didn’t love me very much because I was pretty sure she didn’t own a bird. But I’m glad that happened to me, because it inspired me to help you with a novel, hilarious way to get out of any annoying phone calls you’d rather not be a part of.
